Thank God people are hilarious.! Or else my job would be way harder… I posted this status update on Facebook yesterday after a visit to my local grocery store:
FYI, there was plenty o’ skim in the dairy aisle. Please check out Exhibit A:
I had a show last nite in Baltimore and I pretty much told the story as-is, and the folks there laughed… I came up with a few more punches/tags on the way home. And I’m thinking that with a little tweaking, this story could be a good candidate for the “I hope you don’t make it to the future” section of my act.
Last Tuesday I had to call a plumber out to the house to help unclog my toilet. Once he left I posted the following Facebook status update:
My dad is totally my haggling hero ;) And I knew it’d make him proud to know I was resourceful in talking the plumber down… When I told him about it, he howled and insisted I turn it into a bit. Which I did this weekend. Here’s how it turned out… Funny because it’s true. ;)
So, I’ve been trying to come up with a few new bits on our president and first lady to perform for my TBS TV taping in a few weeks. I figure I’m from DC and the show tapes in Chicago… I feel like it’s a no brainer. I posted the status below a few days ago on Facebook and there seemed to be a consensus that the idea had potential — even my buddy, the hilarious Keith Albertstadt commented on it! I tried out a very similar bit onstage the last two nites and it hit big, so I’m gonna keep tweaking it. No “Blog to the Stage” video to post yet, but if all goes well, it’ll be included in the final edit of the show. I don’t know why I never thought to use Facebook to write jokes before… I mean, duh… what are “friends” for? ;) Tee hee ;) Wish me luck!
A great big, huge-tastic thanks to all of you guys who bought tickets (and those who wanted to but couldn’t) to my Valentine’s Day shows at the DC Improv over the weekend. We had a blast and I think the shows were great from top to bottom. It’s been a while since I posted new material so here’s some of the stuff that’s been on my mind as of late. A lot of it just came to me that night… so don’t you dare judge me! Tee hee ;)
Hey there y’all! I’m back with the second installment of my “From the Blog to the Stage” series. The post this bit is based on goes back a little further than the last one… Before you watch the clip, check out this post from January 20 (MLK Day, incidentally) about my visit to a local Abercrombie & Fitch. Good times.
Lemme know what you think? Is it a keeper? You get to decide. My act is in your hands.
Hey! So I’ve come to realize that blogging has really helped my writing. Sometimes when I’m struggling to come up with new ideas and I’ve got writer’s block, I’ll scroll back thru old blogs and find stories and premises that transfer nicely onto the stage.
Last month I blogged about my friend who doesn’t know what Au Pair means. And I’ve taken that story to the stage a few times since. Last nite it got the biggest laugh its gotten so far and I wanted to share it here. Perhaps this will be a new series here on You’re Welcome… hahaha … and like most of the series I begin, I’ll only do it once ;) Anywayz here goes… I Youtubed the clip. Lemme know what you think? Is it a keeper? You get to decide. My act is in your hands.
