Really. It’s like they have no idea. Most of you guys have never met me but you know how I feel about El Snuggie. I mean I have a category on my blog entitled “Snuggies are awesome.” Well, this year for Christmas I asked for the Deluxe Snuggie (the one with the pockets), and my father bought me (wait for it…) a “Premium Softie” instead.
I’m so not lying.
I joked on Facebook that it was just a lined sleeping bag with arm holes:
But I finally decided to open the box and I realized that there aren’t even any arm holes. It’s just a blanket — and not a very big one — with a couple snaps and a zipper.
On Wednesday I took my car to the Black-owned car wash/detailing spot not far from my house. And on the wall inside the building (where you can stand to watch your car go thru the brushes) there were a series of photos and posters commemorating great Black leaders… Cool, right?
The first photo was of Nelson Mandela:
The next photo was of Dr. King:
The next was a poster listing some of the major contributors and pioneers of the Harlem Renaissance:
I heard on the Today Show on Friday morning that a study showed that Louisiana was the ‘happiest’ state to live in. And after the fun I had this weekend in NOLA, I wouldn’t argue that one bit! I went to Louisiana to see BFF Jenny (excuse me — Dr. Jennifer Pinder Ellis) receive her Ph.D. from LSU!!! YAY! Sooooooo proud of you, J!
Jenny’s husband is from New Orleans and threw her a big graduation party at a great restaurant there on Friday nite.
And after a short program and a fantastic dinner, the party really got started. There was a great DJ who played line dances that I’ve never even heard of — in fact, I’m pretty sure Jen’s husband and his sister made at least 2 or 3 of those up on the spot ;) At some point we realized that some of the people from the holiday party across the corridor (where there was no DJ) were coming out into the hall to dance to the music at Jen’s party. The bartender even came to ‘notify’ us that they were mooching off our DJ ;) Tee hee ;) Continue reading ‘How to NOT miss your blessing’
So I bummed this off my girl Jessica’s Twitter page — she grabbed it off this beautiful ‘inspiration’ blog. And it really may be the CUTEST thing I have EVER seen! I cannot wait for this film to come out! The trailer made me melt and if it doesn’t make you melt — well you might be hollow on the inside.
I love taking Santa photos at Christmastime. They’re my absolute fav! Some folks think I’m too old for it, but we call those folks HATERS! So with the help of my mom I dug up a few of my faves thru the years. Enjoy! And FYI, I’m already braced for all the jokes about the glasses and the Jheri curl — so bring it!!!
OK, so I have some new t-shirts available on the site. But I realized that if someone visits and hasn’t seen my act in recent months, they may not fully get the t-shirt. So here’s an explanation and hopefully a nice weekend LOL for you. This is one of my favorite jokes these days and it’s followed in the act by a whole host of other examples of people that I hope don’t make it. Come out and catch a show sometime and laugh at my political incorrectness. I’m the one that’s gonna be judged for it — so don’t feel bad. ;)
Just found out yesterday that I was invited to open for Bill Maher as he tapes his upcoming HBO special in February in Raleigh, NC! I’m suuuuuuper excited! Being the liberal politics junkie that I am, Bill and Real Time are kinda like my crack. My mom thinks they might throw me a curve ball and ask that I renounce Jesus before the performances, but I’m relatively sure that won’t happen.
Just to be clear, I won’t be appearing on HBO, but the fact that they trust me to prep the crowds for one of the network’s biggest stars is super flattering. Not to mention that it’ll be a huge theater full of fans and HBO execs. And hopefully, I’ll get to meet Bill too ;) It’ll be hands-down the biggest show I’ve ever done. Hooray for this!

Ugh… traveling and working when you’re sick is the worst. I know I shouldn’t complain b/c most days I work 3 hours max, but it still stinks to be sick. I was in Kentucky trying to cure a sinus infection with OTC meds and I realized something… Short and sweet, so I thought I’d share. FYI, you didn’t hear wrong… I did shop at Walgreens — but that’s b/c there were no CVS’s around.
